IPL/AFT works by emitting pulses of light energy at specific wavelengths tailored to your skin concerns. Your therapist will adjust the settings to match the issue being treated, as different concerns require varying pulse durations and energy levels.
When the handpiece is applied, the light is absorbed by a specific target in the skin, such as melanin for pigmentation or hemoglobin for rosacea. The targeted area heats up, breaks down, and is naturally absorbed and filtered out by the body, reducing or eliminating the appearance of the issue. While effective, some conditions like melasma, linked to hormones, may reoccur and could benefit from additional treatments or combined handpieces for better results.
Before any advanced facial or laser treatment, we first cleanse and analyze your skin using our state-of-the-art skin scanner. This process allows us to monitor your progress throughout the treatment journey.
Next, we provide protective eyewear for your safety and apply a cold ECG gel to the targeted area. This gel not only cools the skin but also helps the laser applicator glide smoothly. When we apply the IPL light, you’ll feel a brief, warm sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against your skin. Additionally, we perform a patch test beforehand to familiarize you with the sensation and determine the optimal settings for your treatment.
