Sometimes the right answer for the lips is not filler.
Lip filler has become a default. Many clients walk in asking for filler when what they actually want is a refreshed, smooth, slightly more defined lip without obvious enhancement. The conversation about non-filler lip rejuvenation is one we have often.
What the lips lose with age. Volume, yes, but also definition (the philtrum, the cupid's bow, the vermilion border), hydration, and surface texture. Filler addresses volume well and definition partially, but it does little for texture and surface quality. Aggressive filler can make the lips look unnatural without solving the texture issues.
Non-filler options we offer. ClearLift Lips uses Q-switched laser to rejuvenate the lip surface, improving texture, slight pigmentation, and overall quality. A course of three sessions, four weeks apart, with subtle but cumulative improvements.
Viora RF Lips delivers radiofrequency around and through the lip tissue to stimulate collagen and improve firmness and definition at the vermilion border. Particularly useful for clients with lines around the lip area (smoker's lines, though most clients have these without ever having smoked).
Polynucleotide therapy. The same salmon DNA family used for under-eye rejuvenation works well in the perioral area. Small, multiple shallow injection points improve skin quality, fine lines, and resilience over a course of sessions.
Topical work. A consistent daily protocol with retinol around the lips (carefully, not on the lips themselves), peptide-rich serums, and a high-quality SPF on the lips is the foundation. Without this, in-clinic treatments produce less durable results.
When filler is still the right answer. Volume restoration where the lip has genuinely lost mass. Targeted contour correction in a specific area. Asymmetry correction that texture work cannot address.
The combination. Many of our clients run a non-filler programme alongside very subtle, lip-balanced filler. The combination addresses texture, quality, and modest volume restoration in a way that looks natural and ages well.
The bigger principle. The lips deserve the same multi-pillar thinking as the rest of the face. Filler is one tool, not the default.
