Sculptra® is an FDA-approved injectable collagen stimulator used to restore facial volume and improve skin texture and structure gradually over time. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, it works by stimulating the body’s own collagen production, leading to subtle, progressive, and long-lasting rejuvenation.
Adults in their 40s and beyond experiencing global facial volume loss, temple hollowing, cheek flattening, or 'deflated' skin — who want gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation and are comfortable with results building over 3–6 months..
You may benefit if you have:
Sculptra® is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable synthetic polymer used in dissolvable surgical sutures for decades. Unlike HA filler, it doesn't add direct volume — it triggers a gradual collagen response that your body uses to rebuild its own structural support.
HA fillers give immediate, localised volume that can be reversed. Sculptra® gives gradual, global, structural restoration that lasts longer but is not reversible. Sculptra® is the better choice for diffuse volume loss across the face; HA is the better choice for specific lines or features.
Up to 2 years — longer than most fillers. A typical course is 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with results lasting 18–24 months before touch-ups.
After injection, Sculptra® must be evenly distributed in the tissue to prevent nodule formation. You massage the treatment area firmly for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days after each session. This is mandatory — skipping it increases the risk of visible lumps.
Immediate mild swelling may create a temporary 'filled' look that disappears within days. The real result — collagen-driven volume — builds over 6–12 weeks per session. By the end of your 2–3 session course, the difference is cumulative and natural-looking.
When properly reconstituted, injected by a trained doctor, and massaged per protocol, the risk of nodules is low. Correct dilution (typically 8–10ml of sterile water + lidocaine) and following the 5-5-5 rule are critical. Your doctor will explain the full risk profile honestly.
