A small dose changes more than you might expect, jaw tension, brow position, even how your skin reflects light.
Anti-wrinkle injections, often called by their brand names, are the most common injectable treatment in the world. They are also the most misunderstood. Done well, they are subtle. Done poorly, they are obvious.
The active ingredient relaxes specific muscles, preventing them from contracting forcefully. Where this is useful, the forehead, the area between the brows, the crow's feet. Where it can become problematic, frozen expressions, dropped brows, a tight smile, anywhere the dose has been placed too aggressively or in the wrong site.
Our approach at Ivory is conservative. We use the smallest dose that achieves the result you want, and we plan for you to come back in two weeks for a free top-up if needed. It is much easier to add a tiny amount than to wait three months for an over-treatment to wear off.
What changes after a session. Most clients see the line they were treating soften across 7 to 14 days, peaking at 4 weeks. Beyond that, a few things happen that we point out at consultation.
Jaw tension often eases when we treat the masseter, a use case popular with people who clench at night. Brow position can be subtly lifted if we target the right muscles, opening up the eye area. Sebaceous oil production can reduce slightly when treating the forehead, which can help oily-skin clients.
What does not change. Skin quality. Pores. Pigmentation. These need different treatments. Anti-wrinkle injections are precise tools for muscle activity, nothing more.
If you are considering it for the first time, we will go through your facial expressions during consultation and map exactly where to inject and where to avoid. Sometimes we recommend skipping it altogether, particularly for clients whose movement is part of their character.
