Bio-remodelling gives real results only when the follow-up schedule is respected.
Profhilo is one of the most-requested treatments in our injectables menu. It is also one of the most under-maintained. Here is how to keep the results.
How Profhilo actually works. It is a highly concentrated stabilised hyaluronic acid (HA) that spreads through the tissue after injection, rather than staying in a bolus at the injection site like a traditional filler. The HA acts as both immediate hydration and a stimulus for the body's own collagen and elastin production over the following weeks.
The starting protocol. Two treatments spaced four weeks apart. This is the foundation protocol and single sessions do not achieve the same result. Skipping the second session or delaying it beyond six weeks reduces the collagen response meaningfully.
What clients notice. Improved skin hydration and glow within two to three weeks of the second treatment. Firmer skin texture over 6 to 12 weeks. Sometimes a subtle mid-face lift as the collagen response builds.
The maintenance question. The peak effect of a foundation protocol lasts approximately four to six months, then gradually declines. If you want to hold the result, one maintenance session every four to six months is the answer for most clients. Some clients space to every six to eight months once the initial course is well established.
Why maintenance matters more here than for some treatments. The bio-remodelling effect is a stimulated collagen and elastin response, not an implant that stays in place. Once the stimulus fades, the extra collagen production tapers. Maintaining the stimulus with periodic sessions keeps the collagen response active.
Where Profhilo is most useful. The face for overall quality (not for volume, that is a filler's job). The neck for hydration and mild tightening. The hands for skin quality. Body Profhilo (a slightly different product formulation) for arms and inner thighs.
Who Profhilo suits. Clients in their late 20s and beyond, wanting to address skin quality rather than volume loss. Clients returning to injectables after a break who want a gentle re-entry. Clients not yet ready for structural filler work.
Who it does not suit. Clients wanting immediate visible volume change, that is a filler's territory. Clients with active skin infection at the injection sites. Clients unwilling to commit to the two-session foundation protocol.
The honest read. Profhilo is one of the treatments we most often recommend for skin quality, and one where the client's compliance with the maintenance schedule matters more than the treatment itself.
