Volume that follows the anatomy, not a template, and why 1ml is often the right answer.
The gap between a natural lip filler result and a treated look is not a matter of product volume alone. It is a combination of assessment, injection technique, and knowing when to stop.
The assessment. Before any product is drawn up we assess the resting shape of the lips, the ratio of upper to lower lip, the philtral columns, the vermilion border definition, and the way the lips move during speech and smiling. Each of these guides where the filler goes, and where it does not go.
Why 1ml is often the right answer. For most first-time clients, 1ml of hyaluronic acid filler is more than enough to add meaningful volume, define the border, and hydrate the tissue. Splitting that 1ml carefully between the upper and lower lip, and placing more at the vermilion border than in the body, produces a result that reads as your own lips, just a better version.
What produces a visibly treated look. Placing too much product in the body of the lip creates the sausage or duck shape most clients want to avoid. Placing filler above the vermilion border migrates upward and shortens the philtrum. Chasing symmetry that does not exist naturally makes both lips look artificial.
Product choice. We use hyaluronic acid fillers formulated specifically for lip tissue, from established manufacturers. HA is reversible with hyaluronidase if you ever want to dissolve. We do not use permanent fillers anywhere on the face, and we do not use body-grade filler in the lips.
What to expect. Immediate swelling for 24 to 72 hours that settles to the final result at around 10 to 14 days. Mild bruising in some clients. Longevity of 6 to 12 months depending on your metabolism and the product.
Aftercare that matters. Avoid heat (hot yoga, sauna) for 48 hours, sleep on your back if possible, and avoid pressing on the treated area. Do not judge the final result until day 14.
Who lip filler does not suit. Active cold sores at the time of treatment, hyaluronic acid allergy (rare), or unrealistic expectations of what filler can achieve. If you want lips that look like someone else's, we will have an honest conversation before starting.
