A walk through the consultation process, what we ask, what we look for, and how a plan is built.
A consultation at Ivory is 45 minutes. We have learned the hard way that anything shorter does not allow us to do the job properly, and anything longer becomes a sales conversation.
The first 15 minutes are about you, not your skin. We ask about your sleep, your stress, your hydration, your training, your medications, your family history. We ask what you do for work and how much time you spend outdoors. We ask about your skincare routine, the products you use, the order you use them in, and how often you actually apply each one.
This part feels personal because it is. Skin is the most visible indicator of internal health, and the best treatment plan starts with knowing the person, not the surface. Clients who skip this part and want us to go straight to the mirror often leave with the wrong plan.
The next 15 minutes are the examination. We look at your skin under good clinical lighting, we use a magnification tool, sometimes we take photographs for the file. We classify your concerns, pigmentation versus texture versus laxity, and rate the severity of each. We compare what we see to what you described and identify gaps.
The final 15 minutes are the plan. We present the options on paper. Which treatments are first-line for your concerns. What sequencing makes sense over the next three to six months. What at-home work is non-negotiable. What it will cost, in time and money. What we honestly do not recommend, and why.
We never push a single session at first consultation. We send you home with the written plan, the home protocol, and time to think. Clients who book a course of treatment based on a considered plan stay with us for years. Clients who were rushed into a one-off rarely come back.
The treatment is the easy part. The consultation is where the work actually happens.
