OligoScan uses spectrophotometry — a specialised light-based scanner placed briefly on four points on your palm. The light measures how specific wavelengths are absorbed by tissue, calculating intracellular levels of minerals (magnesium, zinc, calcium, iron, selenium, and more), trace elements, and heavy metals (lead, mercury, aluminium, arsenic, cadmium). Results are ready within minutes.
Blood tests measure extracellular (serum) levels, which reflect recent intake. OligoScan measures intracellular tissue levels, reflecting long-term bioavailability — what is actually being used inside your cells. The two tests are complementary; OligoScan gives a different view of your mineral status.
Honest answer: OligoScan is a useful screening tool that gives directional information, but it is not a replacement for definitive laboratory testing. For significant concerns (heavy metal toxicity, severe deficiency), we'll recommend confirmatory blood or hair testing. Many clients find it a helpful starting point for a wellness plan.
