Thermage FLX is a monopolar radiofrequency treatment that heats the deep dermis to trigger a controlled collagen response. It is one of the few non-surgical treatments with a track record of results that hold for one to two years from a single session.
How it works. A vibrating tip is passed systematically across the face and neck. Each pulse delivers RF energy deep enough to reach the fibrous septa in the subcutaneous layer, the structures that support skin position on the face. The heat causes immediate collagen contraction and triggers a longer neocollagenesis response that builds for three to six months.
FLX versus the older Thermage. The FLX generation delivers larger tip sizes, faster treatment times, integrated cooling that reduces discomfort meaningfully, and a comfort pulse algorithm. A full face plus neck now takes about 45 minutes, down from 90 on the previous platform.
Who it suits. Clients with early to moderate skin laxity in their 40s and 50s who want a lifted, more contoured look without surgery. Clients who cannot commit to surgical downtime. Clients with active lifestyles.
What to expect during the session. Each pulse feels like a brief heat sensation followed by a cooling burst. Most clients tolerate the treatment well without oral pain relief. Some clients take a mild anti-anxiety oral dose before the session, which we discuss at consultation.
Timeline of results. Immediate collagen contraction gives a subtle tightening you may notice within days. The larger neocollagenesis response builds gradually and peaks at three to six months. Results typically hold for 12 to 24 months.
Who it does not suit. Very significant skin laxity is better addressed surgically for a durable result. Clients with metal implants in the treatment area, pacemakers, or active skin conditions in the treatment field are not candidates.
